BMW is taking a bold new step in its electric journey. The next-generation i2 will join the lineup as a four-door electric sedan, offering a fresh alternative to the traditional 2 Series coupe. The focus? More space, more practicality, and the same driving excitement the brand is known for.

Built on BMW’s Neue Klasse EV platform, the i2 will be available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. It’s also expected to feature sixth-gen battery technology with advanced cylindrical cells that offer up to 30% more range and faster charging, while lowering the environmental footprint during production.

At the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show, BMW’s Head of Product Management, Bernd Körber, emphasized that small cars still play a vital role in BMW’s strategy. They bring in younger drivers, support strong global sales, and remain key to delivering a fun-to-drive experience even in a fully electric world.

While the i2’s global rollout is still in the works, market like Iraq positioned to welcome such a model, given the rising interest in premium EVs.
